The King of Blues Buddy Guy, winner of eight Grammys, will perform in Prague on July 16 as part of his farewell tour

Prague, 6 December 2022 - Four years ago, Czech fans saw him for the first time at a sold-out concert in Prague's Lucerna, and next year will be the last time they will have that opportunity. Buddy Guy, the legendary eighty-six-year-old blues guitarist, singer, one of the most influential musicians in history and a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, will perform at the Prague Congress Centre on July 16 as part of a farewell tour called Damn Right Farewell. He will play the most famous songs from his rich career as well as from his new album The Blues Don't Lie, which was released last September and was nominated for a Grammy again. Buddy Guy, who continues to perform on today's stages in great form and with his usual dose of showmanship, will be supported by his long-time collaborator, songwriter and producer Tom Hambridge. The concert is organised by Liver Music as part of Bluesfest. For more information visit

At eighty-six years of age, Buddy Guy is the recipient of eight Grammy Awards, the 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a total of thirty-eight Blues Music Awards (more than anyone else), Billboard magazine's Century Award, and the Kennedy Center Honor for Lifetime Contribution to American Culture. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 23rd in the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He has been a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame since 2005. As a pioneer of the Chicago blues, his guitar playing was a major influence on Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan. "He was to me like Elvis Presley was to other people," Eric Clapton said when he was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. "He set my course, he was my pilot."

The Blues Don't Lie was released last year on September 30 as the follow-up to the successful four-year-old The Blues Is Alive And Well, for which Buddy Guy won his last Grammy award to date. Like the previous recordings, the new album immediately topped the blues charts and was also nominated for a Grammy. On it, Buddy Guy teamed up with Grammy award-winning producer, songwriter and longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge, who will also accompany him on tour.
