Event description

JIŘÍ STIVÍN deals with the interpretation of pre-classical music on the flute since 1975. He performs music from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Mastered all kinds of transverse flutes and recorders. Apart from music, he is also involved in jazz, composing and improvisational New Music, using saxophone, clarinet, transverse flute, recorder flute. He also use several kinds of folk whistles. His musical style is characterized by effervescence, improvisation, frequent switching between different musical styles. On 28th October 2007 the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus awarded him with National Order of Merit by the state in the field of culture and art.
